Top dollar for loose and set diamonds, evaluated on the spot by GIA-trained specialists.
If you want to sell a diamond in San Diego, bring the stone or piece to our Carmel Valley showroom for a free, no-obligation evaluation. Here is what determines what you will be offered:
Every diamond is evaluated using the four factors jewelers call the “4 Cs”: carat (weight), cut (proportions and brilliance), color (how colorless the stone is), and clarity (visible inclusions). We specialize in larger diamonds, 1.0 carat and up, though we evaluate stones of any size, shape, and certification status.
A GIA certificate isn’t required, but it’s extremely helpful for larger stones since it provides an independent, trusted grading. If your diamond isn’t certified, our specialists can still evaluate it in person. We’re among the market’s highest-paying buyers for large carat diamonds, colored diamonds, and diamonds of any shape, including round brilliant, princess, cushion, Asscher, radiant, emerald, oval, pear, marquise, and heart cuts.
We buy both. A loose diamond is valued purely on the 4 Cs, while a diamond set in a ring, necklace, or other piece is valued for the stone plus the metal content and craftsmanship of the setting.
Not ready to sell? You can also use your diamond as collateral for a diamond loan and keep ownership.
| Shape | Characteristics |
|---|---|
| Round Brilliant | The most popular and valuable shape, cut for maximum brilliance and fire. |
| Princess | Square shape with sharp corners, second most popular for engagement rings. |
| Cushion | Square or rectangular with rounded corners, popular in vintage-style settings. |
| Emerald | Rectangular step-cut, emphasizes clarity over brilliance. |
| Asscher | Square step-cut, similar to emerald with a vintage Art Deco appeal. |
| Oval | Elongated round shape that can appear larger per carat. |
| Pear | Teardrop shape combining round and marquise characteristics. |
| Marquise | Elongated shape with pointed ends, maximizes apparent size. |
| Radiant | Rectangular or square with trimmed corners and brilliant faceting. |
| Heart | Romantic symbolic shape, requires excellent symmetry to look its best. |
| Grade | Meaning |
|---|---|
| FL / IF | Flawless / Internally Flawless — no inclusions visible under 10x magnification. |
| VVS1 / VVS2 | Very, Very Slightly Included — inclusions extremely difficult to see under magnification. |
| VS1 / VS2 | Very Slightly Included — minor inclusions, difficult to see under magnification. |
| SI1 / SI2 | Slightly Included — inclusions visible under magnification, sometimes to the naked eye. |
| I1 / I2 / I3 | Included — inclusions visible to the naked eye, may affect durability or brilliance. |
| Grade | Effect on Appearance |
|---|---|
| Excellent | Maximum brilliance and fire, reflects nearly all light that enters. |
| Very Good | High brilliance, reflects most light, difficult to distinguish from Excellent to the naked eye. |
| Good | Reflects a majority of light, solid value for the price. |
| Fair | Noticeably less brilliant, light escapes through the sides or bottom. |
| Poor | Significant light loss, visibly less lively than well-cut stones. |
| Grade Range | Description |
|---|---|
| D – F | Colorless, the most valuable and rarest color range. |
| G – J | Near colorless, color is difficult to detect face-up. |
| K – M | Faint yellow or brown, noticeable to a trained eye. |
| N – Z | Light to noticeable color, significantly more affordable. |
| Fancy Colors | Vivid colored diamonds (pink, blue, yellow, and others) are graded on a separate scale and can command significant premiums over colorless stones. |
We evaluate and buy every category of diamond, including:
One of the most common points of confusion when selling a diamond is why an offer differs from what you originally paid or what you’d see at a retail jeweler. There are several distinct values at play:
When we make you an offer, we’re pricing based on wholesale and resale market value, since that reflects what we can realistically recover, not the retail or insurance replacement price. Understanding this distinction helps set realistic expectations before you come in.
Real pieces and real work from our Carmel Valley showroom — not stock catalogue photography.

Diamonds are tested for authenticity and lab-grown origin using dedicated screening equipment, so grading is based on measurement rather than assumption.
We operate under California Department of Justice pawnbroker licensing, which means regulated recordkeeping, defined loan terms, and legal protections for you and your property.
No credit checks, no employer calls, no reporting to credit bureaus. Private appointments are available for high-value pieces, and your transaction stays between you and us.
Your item never leaves the room. We test, inspect, and explain exactly how we reached a number, so you can see the reasoning rather than just the offer.
Items held as collateral are stored in a secured, insured environment for the duration of the loan and returned in the same condition.
Most evaluations are completed during your visit, and funding is available the same day once you accept an offer.
A decade of local transactions across diamonds, luxury watches, gold, and estate jewelry, with a public Google review record you can read before you visit.
